Potted Potter – 18th December 2007 review
December 19, 2007 – 10:58 pm | by Peekay
It’s enough to try and pack reading all the Harry Potter books into a year, but tonight we got to see all seven books performed in just sixty minutes! And what a show it is – it is truly the perfect Christmas/New Year treat.
Dan & Jeff have been performing this show for the past two years, and have seen success up and down the country. This is primarily a kids show, but much like the Potter books themselves it is very enjoyable for adults as well. In fact tonight there is a full cross-section of ages, all of whom appear to thoroughly enjoy the show.
While you might need a certain amount of Potter knowledge, it really is just enough to have watched one of the films to know what Quidditch is, for example. And even if you don’t, you can still enjoy the interactive Quidditch game played live on stage.
There is a fine line between adults with amazing energy who are annoying to everyone as they try to appeal to kids, and those who manage to capture the attention of all the audience. Dan and Jeff manage a pitch perfect performance, treating their audience to a fun, fast-paced and hilarious show.
This show has everything you would hope from a Potter parody, and much more – action, adventure, a game of Quidditch, great laughs, magic, a song, and a fire-breathing dragon that has to be seen to be believed.
Highly Recommended for anyone with kids, or anyone who wants some simple good-natured fun.
